WTF is wrong with LoL IP

League of Legend's system for rewarding IP must be retarded. How do they determine how much IP you should get? By your k/d/a ratio? By some secret system of elo for normal games? Why do you only get 80 IP for some wins and 200 for others? Well, whatever the case, I think it's fair to say that it doesn't make ANY sense, and needs to be revised.

The terribleness of LoL's IP system came to my attention when I was messing around with Wukong during one of the weeks he was free. Look at the difference between these two games. Does the amount of IP rewarded for each seem at all sensible?

In one game, I carried, had a super positive k/d, and my team won. I only got 85 IP. In the next game, I died a terrible lot and we lost, but somehow, I got more IP than I did in the game where I carried and won. Neither game was the first win of the day, so there was no IP boost involved.

HOW can LoL explain the reasons behind this kind of reward system? If winning is worth so much less than losing, why bother to win? Are they trying to make the losers feel better by giving them more IP? I can imagine Riot's game makers thinking something like, "Ouch man, you really suck, so here, have some extra IP so you can buy a new champ, ltp, and keep playing".

If that's so, no wonder there are so many ridiculously terrible LoL players.

Cheers to a free game,

  1. The amount of IP you get is based on the duration of the game, and if you revive over 200 IP, it's probaly your First-Win-Of-The-Day Bonus, or you have a IP boost.
